🔮 Museum Adventure: The Alchemy Museum of Prague

Last year, I kept telling my friends, "I've visited so many museums these years, I should really write a travel journal about them!" But as usual, procrastination won... 😅 Recently, with Prague's sudden winter chill making life miserable, I found myself scrolling through old photos to warm up some happy memories. 📸 Time to turn those memories into words before they fade away!!! Let's start this museum series with the most mysterious one - Speculum Alchemiae!!! Honestly, it's not my absolute favorite, but definitely one of the quirkiest and most unique!!! Packed with medieval European and Western esoteric elements, this is exactly the kind of hidden gem I would've rushed to if I knew about it during my first Prague trip!!! 🔥 🕰️ Visit Experience The museum operates with time-slot entries, so I highly recommend checking their official website (Google is your friend!!!) to book in advance. The waiting area is just a tiny shop - two chairs and some souvenir displays. 😅 When we arrived, there was no one else, so we ended up waiting for 30 minutes in hunger and exhaustion... 🥲 The alchemy books in the shop looked super intriguing, but the language barrier was real (why are academic books always so hard?! 😵‍💫). The guided tour was fascinating, though the guide's English had a very strong Czech accent (but honestly, what Czech person doesn't speak with an accent?! 😆). Here's my fuzzy memory of the tour (corrections welcome!!!): This museum was originally a medieval alchemist's laboratory, built underground and amazingly surviving the witch hunts!!! It was later discovered during some flood or something, and now stands as one of the best-preserved alchemy sites in the world!!! The tour starts in what was the alchemist's office - ceiling to floor covered in alchemical symbols!!! A bookshelf hides the secret entrance to the underground laboratory!!! The passageway is narrow but surprisingly well-ventilated (no weird smells!!!) Plenty of photo ops, though the space is smaller than you'd expect - more like an ancient ruin than a museum!!! 💰 Ticket Info Adults: 200 CZK | Students: 150 CZK (CASH ONLY!!!) 📝 Final Thoughts If you're looking for something completely different from Prague's usual tourist spots, this is it!!! The mystical atmosphere, the secret passages, the history... pure magic!!! ✨ #MuseumAdventure #CzechRepublic #PragueTravel #Alchemy #HiddenGems #MuseumDiaries
