Baan Lao Fine Thai Cuisine – Elegant Thai Dining Experience

🍄Recently visited this newly opened Thai fine dining restaurant—rare to find Thai cuisine at this price point in Vancouver, so we decided to give it a try. We opted for the 18-course tasting menu, where each dish showcased creativity, innovative ingredients, and unique textures. The flavors were bold, incorporating Southeast Asian spices while deviating from traditional Thai tastes—some dishes were a hit (though one or two felt a bit unusual). Chef Nutcha Phanthoupheng, who even received the King Charles III Coronation Medal (awarded to Canadians with outstanding national contributions), greeted us after the meal—an impressive touch! The intimate setting features just three servers attending to six tables, ensuring attentive and well-paced service. The staff’s warmth and professionalism stood out. 📣A highlight? The restaurant displays paintings by Suda, Thailand’s viral "artist elephant." Each piece is strikingly expressive—rumored to be self-taught, with no formal training. If true, it’s even more remarkable! (This also reminded me of the bullied elephant at Shanghai Wild Animal Park—hope the zoo takes proper action.) Though pricey, it’s perfect for birthdays or anniversaries. A memorable splurge! 🏠 Baan Lao Fine Thai Cuisine 📍 4100 Bayview St, Richmond, BC V7E 6S8 #AestheticDining #VancouverLife #VanEats #VancouverFoodie #VibeDining #CreativeCuisine #ThaiFood #VancouverFineDining
