Conquering LA’s Toughest Hike | San Antonio Ski Hut 🏔️💪
Today’s Mount Baldy adventure via the San Antonio Ski Hut Trail was hands-down the most challenging hike I’ve tackled with my hiking group! 🥾 Brutal But Rewarding: 5.5 miles RT with 2,100 ft elevation gain—relentless rocky scrambles + zero shade ☀️. Leg cramps galore (both uphill and down 😅), but somehow didn’t end up as the group’s caboose! 🏡 Historic Ski Hut: Built in the 1930s by Sierra Club, this 2,530m-high refuge is the oldest still-operating alpine hut in SoCal. A must-stop for climbers/skiers attacking Mt. Baldy’s summit. ⏱️ Stats: Time: 4 hours (with sweat breaks) Peak views: Unreal 360° panoramas of the San Gabriels 🌄 ⚠️ Pro Tips: Start EARLY (heat + exposure = murder post-10AM). Trekking poles = knee saviors on the descent. Hydrate like crazy (I drained 3L!). 📍 San Antonio Ski Hut Trailhead Parking off Mt.
