NYC Dining Review | Chambers
Made a reservation for two one week in advance—not the easiest to book! The intimate space has a modern vibe with decent ambiance. Service was fine overall. We caught their new summer menu launch, ordering the seasonal prix fixe plus à la carte additions (flexible ordering is a plus). Summer Tasting Menu: 🥗 Market Crudités with Bagna Càuda Seasonal veggies with anchovy-horseradish dip. Meh. Veggies were bland, and the sauce didn’t wow. 🐗 Heritage Pork Tenderloin with Swiss Chard Surprisingly tender, but the high acidity + saltiness created a weirdly addictive yet polarizing flavor. 🍒 Plum Cherry Clafoutis with Sweet Cream Forgettable. Needed more oomph. À La Carte Standouts: 🍞 We Break Bread Sesame-studded flatbread. Just okay. 🦑 Squid Solid squid with fun Jerusalem artichoke texture. 🧠 Veal Sweetbreads First time trying venison sweetbreads! Similar to calf’s version—charred, tender, smoky. A win! 🐔 Snowdance Chicken Juicy, crispy-skinned perfection. Textbook roast chicken. 🥔 New Potatoes Over-salted with pungent pesto. Skip. 🧀 Mascarpone Silky cheese + flaky pastry. Rich AF—best shared. Final Take: The summer menu dragged things down, but à la carte dishes (especially chicken and sweetbreads) shined. Might return to try other options. 💸 Total: $200.32 (pre-tip) 📍 94 Chambers St #1, New York, NY 10007 #NYCEats #NYCRestaurants #MFE #FoodDiaries #ModernAmerican #HitOrMiss
