Udon in SoHo | RAKU

Last week, I went to RAKU in SoHo thinking I’d just grab some casual udon… until the bill came out to $200+ for two people 💸 (maybe we just eat a lot? 😭). Here’s what we ordered + honest thoughts: • 🍜 Hot Pot Udon – Packed with duck, egg, veggies, and a small side of tempura. Tasty, but the flavor was one-note throughout the whole meal. • 🦀 Snow Crab Udon – My boyfriend’s pick. Almost identical to my hot pot udon—couldn’t even tell there was crab in it. Just a thicker broth. • 🍮 Chawanmushi ($22 each) – Topped with a bit of crab meat. We thought it’d be tiny, so we ordered two… but it was decently sized. Same flavor profile as the udon, though. • 🥢 Side Dishes – Just okay. Neither added nor took away from the meal. • 🍺 Two Beers – Standard. Overall impression? The udon noodles themselves were great—chewy and satisfying. But everything else tasted the same, and there were no surprises from start to finish. Final verdict: • If you’re craving udon, give it a try! But don’t expect a flavor adventure. #Raku #SoHo #NYCJapaneseFood #NYCFoodie #NYCUdon #NotBadButNotAmazing
