Amid Manitoba's provincial election buzz, our school organized a tour of this historic landmark! 🗳️🏛️ Let's Mark some intriguing facts: 🔍 Built 1913-1920, the Manitoba Legislative Building serves as the province's political hub—a heritage site, symbol of political culture, and Winnipeg icon. 🏛️✨ 💸 Fun fact: Originally budgeted at $300M CAD (a fortune back then!), it was supposed to take 5 years. But the designer, not being from Winnipeg, underestimated our brutal winters ❄️❄️❄️. Construction halted completely in the cold, causing a 2-year delay. Rumor has it officials even stole building materials and pillars! 😱🔨 🐂 Inside highlights: Two life-sized bronze bisons dominate the entrance—imported via France 🗼 to NYC 🗽, then finally to Winnipeg! The central hall blends Roman columns, Greek motifs, and Egyptian pentagrams 🏛️🇬🇷🇪🇬. Mysterious 13s everywhere: Architects included the "unlucky" number in designs (step on it daily to ward off bad luck! 🍀). The Egyptian pentagram is symmetrical from any angle—mind-blowing! 🌟 🎨 Chambers & Art: The reception hall boasts crystal chandeliers 💎 and portraits of King George V, Queen Mary, Elizabeth II, and Prince Philip. 👑🖼️ The legislative chamber is a classic circular setup with opposing benches and a central speaker's podium.
