🧞‍♂️ Eastern Europeans Really Love Dining in Cellars!

🌭In Eastern Europe, the most authentic meals are often served in Gothic-style wine cellars. 🌭I’ve passed Lokys in Vilnius Old Town many times—its wide-eyed bear statue at the entrance always draws a crowd. Today, 🌭thanks to a friend’s reservation, we finally tried it. Another cellar restaurant, but more modern than the candlelit caves elsewhere. 🏰 About Lokys: 🥬A historic restaurant (established in the 15th century!) 🥬 with cozy outdoor seating (flowers, greenery) and a beautifully renovated cellar interior. 🥬Mid-meal rain drove us inside—no regrets! 🥬The vaulted stone space blends old-world charm with contemporary elegance. 🍽️ The Menu: 🧄Only 8 main courses, including game meats like duck, beaver, venison, and catfish (for the brave!). 🧄Each dish notes which Lithuanian duke or noble loved it—history on a plate! Half the menu is drinks (dozens of pages!). 🧄 Local highlights: honey wine and craft beers. I tried Ceslovas Ramoska's Quince Wine—a sweet white, delicious! 💰 Cost: ~€30/person (free bread!). 🛍️ Souvenirs: Jams, honey, chocolates, and sunflower seeds (all beautifully packaged). 🐾 Pet-friendly: Our neighbor was an adorable dachshund! 🎁 My Takeaway: 🌮Raspberry honey (100ml, flight-safe!) 🌮Raspberry-pine nut jam (60g)—the menu touted pine nuts’ health benefits, so of course I had to try! #Lithuania #VilniusFood #UniqueDining #EuropeanCuisine
