🚶‍♂️ Follow Me into the Kurashiki Bikan Area of Okayama Prefecture 🚶

#JapanStrollingGuide In Japan, there are many places that preserve historical streetscapes just like Kyoto, but they are waiting to be discovered. When traveling in Japan, consider visiting some other cities, and you might be able to leave a unique travel experience. This might be one of the meanings of travel itself. This time, I'm taking you all to the Kurashiki Bikan Area in Kurashiki City, Okayama Prefecture. It refers to the streets extending from the Kurashiki River to the southern slope of Tsurugi Mountain, designated by the Japanese government as an important traditional building preservation area. This region developed about 400 years ago as a trading hub. Many white-walled warehouses were built to store goods. In addition to these, there are textile factories from the Meiji era, the Ohara Museum of Art, Japan's first Western-style art museum built in 1930, and the former residences of local merchants such as the Ohara, Inoue, and Kusunoki families. Therefore, many Japanese film and television productions come here for filming. Now, some buildings over 300 years old in the area are well-preserved and have been transformed into various shops open to tourists. Here, you can taste the specialty cuisine of Okayama Prefecture, buy local products, and find a variety of denim series produced in, the birthplace of Japanese denim, as well as Kurashiki canvas bags, etc. The day I visited on the winter solstice started with snowflakes ❄️ that later turned into a clear sky, showing me the different colors of the Kurashiki Bikan Area, making it an unforgettable trip for me. I think when you come here, you can leisurely appreciate a world that transcends time and spend a whole day playing. 📍Address: 1-4-8 Chuo, Kurashiki City, Okayama Prefecture 🚃Transportation: About a 15-minute walk from the South Exit of JR Kurashiki Station (It takes about 80 minutes to get here from Osaka. Take the Shinkansen to Okayama Station and transfer to the Sanyo Main Line.) #JapanTravel #Japan #KurashikiOkayama #OkayamaPrefecture #TravelInJapan #MyTravelStoryOf2023 #DayTrip #SceneryOnTheWay #Travel
