‘I Was Blown Away’ — Gordon Ramsay Keeps Recommending This NYC Restaurant To His Team

After indulging in all of [Anthony Bourdain’s NYC favorites](https://secretnyc.co/anthony-bourdain-favorite-restaurants-nyc/), why not take a page from **Gordon Ramsay’s** playbook and explore one of his handpicked favorites in the city? Although the British celebrity chef has his own [Fish & Chips restaurant in Times Square](https://secretnyc.co/gordon-ramsay-fish-and-chips-times-square/), he’s been known to rave about one NYC restaurant in particular: COTE. It’s the **first and only Michelin-starred [Korean steakhouse](https://secretnyc.co/best-korean-bbq-nyc/) in the country**! COTE is owned by Seoul-born restaurateur Simon Kim, who has mastered the fusion of Korean barbeque’s interactive atmosphere with the features of an American steakhouse. The restaurant opened in 2017 and received its Michelin star in the same year, just five months after opening. It’s known for serving up the highest quality USDA Prime beef and offering an extensive **1,200+ label wine list**. One of its most famous dishes include the ‘**Butcher’s Feast**,’ complete with four selected cuts with Korean accompaniments, including Gogi Cha (USDA Prime beef bone consommé, Ban-Chan (pickled season vegetables), Scallion Salad, Savory Egg Soufflé, Red Leaf Lettuce with Ssam-jang and two Stews with Saechungmu Rice. Customers can add 1oz of Japanese a5 Wagyu and +$32 supplement per person. The entire feast is finished with Vanilla Soft Serve and soy sauce caramel. Even Ramsay, a notorious hard-ass, couldn’t help but praise the establishment. “The service and design is on point, but what stands out is the quality of the meat. I was blown away with my first visit there and **always suggest my team stop there if they’re in NYC**,” said Ramsay in High Life’s “[Gastronomic guide to North America](https://bahighlife.com/experiences/gordon-s-gastronomic-guide-to-north-america).” COTE Flatiron also has a **subterranean cocktail bar called Undercote**. Described as a “moonlit jungle oasis,” the inventive cocktail bar offers a lounge atmosphere that’s only available on a first come, first serve basis. So if you’re looking to keep the party going after your meal, try your luck at grabbing a seat downstairs. COTE also has a location in Miami that opened in 2021, with a Vegas location coming in October 2025.
