【Ground Zero】 Go Out and See(2)
🌇🌿Over a decade after the "9/11" tragedy, the plaza has seen the rise of a new architectural ensemble. The designers, adhering to the original footprint of the World Trade Center, constructed two sunken monuments from black marble and dark grey granite. 🌇🌿The above-ground portion of the monuments stands chest-high, crafted from black marble. The sunken pits, built from dark grey granite, taper inward in a square funnel shape. Inscribed on the black marble in English are the names of approximately 2,740 victims. 🌇🌿 On the birthdays of these individuals, small flags or white roses are placed beside their names as a token of remembrance. Between the two monuments stands a building shaped like a white bird in flight. Upon entering and descending the broad, tall stairs, one finds a shopping district on the first level and the city's central station below. 🌇🌿 Looking up from the ground floor at the dome, it resembles a giant eye, hence the building is known both as the "Eye of Heaven" and the "Flying Bird." The Eye of Heaven symbolizes awakening, while the Flying Bird calls for peace. 🕊️🌟 Standing among the monuments, one can't help but marvel at the designer's inspiration. 🌇🌿 Whether you are an ordinary person or someone with extraordinary achievements, in the end, everyone follows the path of life to reach the ultimate destination of the soul... a return to zero. 🌇🌿 #TravelNotes 📝✨
