【WHV】North Island Road Trip – Exploring New Zealand’s Far North 🚗🌊
After finishing my cherry-picking job, I kicked off my second road trip—this time heading north from Auckland! Here’s how it went: 📸 First Stop: Whangarei Falls The waterfall isn’t huge, but hey, in NZ, even small waterfalls are scenic. Worth a quick look, but don’t expect Niagara! 😆 📸 Whangarei – The Biggest City Up North The art museum in town was designed by the same artist behind Kawakawa’s famous Hundertwasser toilets—super quirky and insta-worthy! 📸 📸 Cape Reinga – The Northernmost Point of NZ A lighthouse and a signpost mark the edge of the country. Standing there, staring at the endless Pacific, I couldn’t help but wonder… "What’s on the other side?" 🌊🗺️ 📸 Giant Sand Dunes – Sandboarding Fun! Just nearby—rent a board for $15 and slide down the dunes! (📍Search "Giant Sand Dunes" on maps.) So much fun! 🏄♂️ 📸 90 Mile Beach – 4WD & Surfing Paradise You can drive on the beach (4WD only!) or dig for pipi (clams)—head to the southern entrance (the middle one’s private land… I learned the hard way 😅). No car? Just surf or chill instead! 🏖️ 📸 Kaikohe – Secret Hot Springs! On the way back, I stopped at Ngawha Springs—$34 for 2 hours, and barely anyone there! Pure relaxation. ♨️💆 That’s it for the Far North! There’s more to explore, but Cape Reinga’s "end-of-the-world" vibe was definitely the highlight. Now, onward to the rest of the island! 🌿 #WHV #WorkingHolidayNZ #OffTheBeatenPath #HiddenGems #Whangarei #CapeReinga #NgawhaSprings #NZRoadTrip #TravelNZ #AdventureTime
