🏞️ Acadia 3-Day Trip Journal

Day 1: Boston → Acadia The drive from Boston to Acadia takes about 5 hours. We made a stop at Portland Head Light halfway through—we wandered around the lighthouse, grabbed a meal to rest, and tried the seafood paella at Paella Seafood Restaurant (it was delicious!). The restaurant has plenty of parking spots and is not far from the lighthouse, which was super convenient. We arrived in Bar Harbor in the evening. Most of the inns around the area are decorated so cutely—cozy and full of New England charm. Later that night, around 10 PM, we headed to Sand Beach for stargazing ✨. With the sound of waves crashing nearby and a sky full of twinkling stars above, it was such a unique stargazing experience—totally different from city views! Day 2: Hiking & Sunset Cruise In the morning, we hiked the Jordan Pond & South Bubble Trail. The uphill section involves a lot of rock scrambling, so make sure to wear non-slip hiking shoes—we climbed about 600 feet in elevation! A part of the Bubble Divide trail was closed, so we had to take a short detour on the way down. Overall, the hike was great: the lake water was crystal clear, there weren’t too many people, and most of the trail is shaded by trees, so we didn’t get too hot. In the afternoon, we walked the Ocean Path. For Thunder Hole, be sure to check the high tide schedule beforehand—arriving 1.5 hours early will let you see the most dramatic wave crashes (the “thunder” effect is way stronger then!). We had dinner at Abel's Lobster—both soft-shell and hard-shell lobsters were delicious 😋, and their blueberry sparkling water was especially refreshing! In the evening, we booked a 2-hour Sunset Cruise with Acadian Nature Cruises. We got to see seals from a distance and coastal lighthouses, and the boat was super stable—no seasickness at all 👍. Day 3: Cadillac Mountain & Return Trip In the morning, we went to Cadillac Mountain to enjoy the panoramic views of the sea and sky blending into one. After that, we stopped at the visitor center to get our national park passport stamped and bought a souvenir fridge magnet. On our way back to Boston, we stopped in Freeport for lunch and visited the huge L.L.Bean flagship store (it’s a must-see if you’re passing through!). Then we drove back to Boston, wrapping up the trip perfectly ✔️. #Acadia #AcadiaNationalPark
