Just finished a 2-month road trip across the American West & Western Canada 🚙. In late May, I visited Canyonlands National Park – right next to the famous Arches National Park. Without a 4WD vehicle, I explored only the Island in the Sky district. The extra star? ⭐ Goes to the Mesa Arch sunrise! Even if you’ve seen countless arches, this one is worth waking up early for. Other park spots are wild and beautiful but can feel similar to other Utah landscapes – half a day is enough. 📸 Spot Reviews: 1️⃣ Mesa Arch A short 1km round-trip hike 🥾 Famous for the sun’s rays shining through the arch – a classic Windows desktop background! ⚠️ Arrive 1 hour before sunrise – the left-side front spots fill fast with photographers 📷 Use an ultra-wide lens and small aperture for starburst effects 2️⃣ Grand View Point Overlook The iconic "monster footprint" view 🦶 – overlooks vast canyons and plains 3️⃣ Buck Canyon Overlook Feels like the earth split open – dramatic and awe-inspiring 🌄 4️⃣ Green River Overlook Distant views of the Green River – bring a telephoto lens 📡 5️⃣ Shafer Trail Viewpoint Overlooks the winding Shafer Trail (4WD required to drive it) 6️⃣ Candlestick Tower Overlook Sandstone towers resembling Monument Valley 🗿 7️⃣ Upheaval Dome A mysterious 5km-wide crater – unknown origin (meteorite? geological uplift?) ❓ Steep trail, little shade – most stop at the first overlook (1km round-trip) #RoadTrip #Canyonlands #Utah #NationalParks #SunriseLovers #Hiking #TravelUSA
