🌧️ Corridor 109 Reopening | A Stormy Soft-Opening Night
We visited Corridor 109 on the final night of their soft opening. The menu is compact, but each dish showed thoughtful layers and balanced seasoning. 🍞 Signature Toast Though the sardines were swapped for Horse Mackerel, the combination of rich fish oil and lightly toasted bread was deeply satisfying. A hint of smokiness, followed by a sip of champagne – pure comfort. 🐟 Tai (Sea Bream) × Uni A clear favorite! The clean, crisp taste of sea bream paired with the sweet creaminess of uni – fresh and delicate in every bite. 🍚 Uni Risotto A change from the previous abalone version – and just as delicious. Sweet uni, briny clams, topped with thin slices of yellowtail for a touch of fatty aroma. I could’ve easily had another bowl! 🍸 Drinks The drink menu is limited, but you can order cocktails from next door Bar 109. I tried two later in the meal – they were okay, but didn’t quite stand out. 👨🍳 Chef Brian has an impressive background but stays quiet and focused in the kitchen. He quietly observed us between courses and later came over to ask for feedback. From his humble beginnings in a Chinatown kitchen to now having his own space – he’s clearly dedicated and humble. ⛈️ We finished just as a heavy storm flooded the streets… Oh, L.A. 💭 Overall: Flavor-wise – very good. But the style isn’t yet distinct. The soft-opening menu felt balanced, clean, and comfortable, but it didn’t tell a strong story or express a clear identity. Looking forward to seeing how Chef Brian defines his voice after the official opening! #LAEats #Corridor109 #LAFoodScene #SoftOpeningVibes 🍽️✨
