🍽️ NYC Solo Dining & Drinks Diary | A High-Energy Introvert's Week 🍷
Just wrapping up a week of wandering, eating, and sipping around the city. As a true solo explorer, I love strolling for hours and discovering new spots! Here’s a little recap of the highlights: 🏠 Gem Home – Part home goods store, part cafe with natural wine. Cozy and beautiful. Loved their bread plate with whipped butter, jam, cheese, and sourdough. 🥪 Elbow Bread – Tried the crispy walnut butter rye sandwich with cream cheese and dates — so energizing! Also picked up their adorable sweet potato-shaped pretzel 🥨. 🍢 Kono – Craving yakitori? They did a solid job with appetizers and skewers, though some were a bit salty. Chicken was tender but lacking in that deep poultry flavor (will share a full yakitori comparison soon!). 🥐 Bibble & Sip – Not usually a cream puff person, but their black sesame croissant won me over. Not too sweet, packed with nutty sesame flavor, crispy, and filled with a thick layer of black sesame paste. So good! 🍸 Shinji’s – Went to try their new cocktails… and left slightly disappointed. The karaage brown butter drink was rich but became heavy quickly. Preferred the Green Jacket, Hemingway, and IMO Flip — herbal and more balanced. The Frozen M&M was refreshing, though the burnt orange note was strong. Favorite was the S&P500, with a chocolate sphere slowly melting into a mix of Macallan, VSOP, and Ardbeg — though at $40+, it better be good 😅. 🍅 L’Americana – Their Tomatini was a bright, savory standout. 🐟 Smithereens – A seafood-focused wine bar that’s rich, satisfying, and very drink-friendly. Some dishes leaned salty, but I’ll be back for the cozy vibes. 🥂 El Camino – Happy hour short martini for $10? Yes, please! Also loved the roasted tomatoes with ricotta — juicy, garlicky, slightly sweet, and creamy. The focaccia, though, was a bit dry. 🍊 Parcelle – Returned to one of my favorite wine bars for a lovely glass of orange wine. 👯 Cosme – Went with friends (not solo!) — their corn dessert is still a must-try 🌽. 🌶️ Mala Kongjian – Made my first trip to Flushing! The grilled fish and frog legs were absolutely delicious — definitely worth the journey. All in all, a tasty, explorative week in the city. Can’t wait to keep wandering and sipping! #NYCSolo #SoloDining #NYCEats #WeekInNYC #WineBarHopping #FoodDiary #NYCExplorer #EatDrinkWalk #NYCFoodie #CityWandering #IntrovertEats #NYCLife #HiddenGems
