๐๏ธ๐ Sochi 4 Days & 3 Nights
We took the train from Moscow โ about a day and a half journey. We bought the tickets last minute, so both of us got upper bunks ๐๏ธ๐บ for 4800 RUB each. On the way back, we had one lower and one upper bunk near the corridor, each costing 5175 RUB. Plane tickets were too expensive, and since we werenโt in a hurry, we chose the train. There were hardly any Chinese travelers โ we didnโt meet any on the way there and only one on the return trip. The upper bunk design isnโt very practical though โ you canโt sit up straight without bumping your head ๐ตโฆ so try to get a lower bunk if possible! The views outside the window are pretty ๐, but the internet is patchy ๐ต. Better download some shows or books in advance. And oh โ bring a power bank! There arenโt many charging spots, and anyway, without internet, thereโs not much to do ๐ . Day 1: Rosa Khutor + Olympic Park + Amusement Park We arrived at Sochi train station at 4 am. Our hotel was a 20-minute taxi ride away. We went to check in early and stored our luggage. Since it was too early for a room, we did our makeup in the lobby ๐โจ (Iโll talk more about the hotel in the next post โ including photos of the shared pool and breakfast area ๐โโ๏ธ๐ณ). To get to Rosa Khutor, we took a train ๐ โ the views along the coast are gorgeous! The first train departs at 8:32 AM, and we arrived a little after 9. Free shuttle buses take you from the station to the ticket area. Mornings are less crowded โ no queues for tickets or cable cars ๐ก. Student discounts are available with ID ๐. There was still a little snow โ๏ธ when we went โ so pretty! It gets chilly at the top, so bring a light jacket. You could easily spend a whole day here. There are side paths to waterfalls and hiking trails, but we stuck to the main route. The open cable car rides were awesome โ so relaxing! By around noon, fog rolled in ๐ซ๏ธ and the mountain views disappeared โ not great for photos. Better to go early! After coming down, we took a bus directly to the Olympic Park and amusement park โ about 1.5 hours away. Honestlyโฆ unless youโre super eager to see them, Iโd say you can skip them. The Olympic Park looks nice from outside, but walking through it is tiring. Same with the amusement park โ unless youโre riding attractions, it might not be worth it. We ended up choosing to chill by the sea ๐๐. We found a restaurant near the coast, had a meal, and enjoyed the breeze. The prices in these scenic coastal areas are similar to ordinary restaurants in Moscow ๐ฝ๏ธ๐ฐ. Around 6 PM, we took the bus back to our hotel โ Greys Nairi Hotel ๐จ. Itโs a nice hotel, but located on a hill โ 20 mins walk to the sea and 10 mins to the bus stop. The greenery is amazing though โ we took some really nice photos in the garden ๐ฟ๐ธ (more in the next post!). #EscapeWinterForSummer #StudyAbroadTravel #Travel#Sochi
