🍽️ Sons & Daughters ⭐️⭐️ – A Genuine Review

Conquered Michelin, but didn’t quite conquer me. 📍 Tried this well-known two-Michelin-star restaurant in San Francisco — Sons & Daughters. So many people raved about it, calling it “soulful cuisine.” The chef is the famous Teague Moriarty. But honestly… I left with mixed feelings. 🍽️ The Food | Creative & Elegant… But Very Sour Every dish was plated like a work of art — truly thoughtful. A mix of molecular gastronomy and New Californian cuisine, with a strong emphasis on seasonal and garden-inspired flavors. Definitely Instagram-worthy 📸. We added the truffle and caviar pairing — that was delicious 👅. But the whole menu was dominated by sourness — pickled veggies, fermented cream, house-made vinaigrettes. While it added complexity, the constant acidity became overwhelming. A little more balance in the progression would’ve been nice 🤨. Highlights? The duck 🦆 — crispy, tender, and juicy, reflecting Moriarty’s farm-to-table philosophy (sourced from Healdsburg). The acetic strawberry icy dessert was also a refreshing surprise. 🪑 The Ambience | A Letdown, Honestly 🙃 Let’s be real — for a two-star Michelin, the atmosphere was underwhelming. Tight seating, small space, and the bistro-style decor felt mismatched. People kept stopping and staring through the glass, which really disrupted the dining vibe. On the plus side: the plating was professional, and the handmade ceramic plates (by the chef’s mother) were a special touch that complemented the dishes. 💰 Price & Final Thoughts | Not Worth a Special Trip 🧾 Approximately $650+ per person (without wine pairing) ✨ Good for adventurous eaters who love experimental flavors 🙅‍♀️ Not ideal for those who value ambiance or prefer classic fine dining 🔚 A creative, homely Michelin experience, but the setting doesn’t match the price. Personally… I wouldn’t go back. #SanFranciscoFood #MichelinStar #SFExplored #BayAreaWeekend #BayAreaEats #FoodieExperience #NewTastes #SummerEats #MichelinReview #StudyAbroadLife
