ποΈ The Only Unitarian Church in Rochester
I recently learned about Unitarianism and discovered itβs quite different from traditional Christianity. Out of curiosity, I searched for a Unitarian church nearby and was surprised to find one just 5 minutes away from home β the First Unitarian Church of Rochester. When we entered, the staff asked if we were architecture students (weβre not π) and handed us a brochure about the building. They mentioned we came at just the right time and could explore for about 30 minutes to an hour. At first glance, the church felt more like a modern university building π’. If no one had told me, I might not have even guessed it was a church! But when we stepped into the Sanctuary, something shifted β a sense of calm and light filled the space βοΈ. Maybe it was the way light entered through the four elevated side skylights, reflecting softly around the room. Iβm not sure how to describe it in technical terms, but everything felt perfectly harmonized. It was a unique and moving experience β completely different from any church or temple Iβve visited before π. The staff also told us a bit about the architect, Louis Kahn β apparently he was a really influential figure in modern architecture! π π Address: 220 Winton Road South, Rochester, NY #LouisKahn #NYDayTrip #ArchitectureLovers #NewYork #RochesterNY #Unitarian
