✈️ Travel Diary | Invercargill - New Zealand's Southernmost City
My first winter trip to Invercargill in July! ❄️ Temperatures ranged from 2-8°C, with mostly rainy and windy weather—thermal leggings and puffer jackets were a must. Luckily, we had sunny skies for our 1.5-day stay! ☀️ Here are the must-visit spots we loved: 🦪 1. Bluff Oysters are a MUST! The famous Bluff Oyster Festival happens here. 🍟 Best takeaway: The Galley Takeaways (delicious & affordable!). 🚶♂️ Walk the coastal trail near the iconic signpost. 🐚 Hunt for pāua (abalone) at low tide! 🚗 2. Classic Car Museum Nostalgic vibes—a car lover’s dream! 📍 491 Tay St, Hawthorndale 🌊 3. Riverton A charming seaside town 30 mins from the city. Sip coffee with ocean views! ☕ 🌳 4. Queens Park A huge public garden with botanical displays, a mini zoo, and a greenhouse. Fun fact: Invercargill is sister cities with Suqian, China! 🐟 5. Kings Ocean Fresh Fish Best fish & chips in town—try the Blue Cod! 🍟 🌯 6. Turkish Kebabs Busy spot for lamb/chicken/veggie kebabs—so good we went twice! ☕ 7. Starbucks The world’s southernmost Starbucks—worth the photo op! 📸 🎬 8. Reading Cinema Perfect for rainy evenings! This cozy, friendly town stole our hearts—highly recommend! 💙 #NZTravel #Invercargill #SouthIsland #TravelDiaries
