🍽️ Winnipeg | First Try at a Filipino Restaurant
Some storefronts are so unassuming, you’d never guess they serve food! Filipino cuisine, though, hits close to home for Chinese taste buds. Here’s my debut experience: 🥭 Mango Drink (Staff Pick) ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Fine, but not mind-blowing. 🫔 Shanghai-style Lumpia ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Surprise win! Low expectations, decent payoff. 🍖 Bulalo (Beef Bone Soup) ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Worth the $30! Packed with three greens, corn, and two beef cuts. Pro tip: Avoid sitting under AC—it cools too fast. 🍗 Fried Chicken ⭐️⭐️ The menu’s star, yet the biggest letdown. Dry and bland. Skip it—Jollibee does it better. 🦀 Crab Fried Rice ⭐️⭐️⭐️ One of three fried rice options. Hard to mess up—I’d eat it again. 💸 Total for 3: ~$100 after tax (left with a doggy bag!) 📍 Verdict: Worth a visit for Filipino food newbies—but explore the menu beyond fried chicken.
