☕☀️Not in Switzerland, but in...
🏡 The joy of owning a valley alone: so private it feels like having the whole view The 8 rooms spread along the hillside, each facing a different scene: some have terraced fields outside the window, some can see distant snow-capped peaks when looking up, and our room’s balcony overlooks the curling smoke of the village. With few guests, the service becomes exceptionally "personal"——pushing open the door in the morning, the butler has already laid out coffee and local biscuits on the terrace, saying "saw you like sunshine, so moved the table specially"; walking on the hotel paths, the gardener smiles and hands over freshly picked wild strawberries, sweet and sour like a bite of summer. This sense of "undisturbed privacy" is something big hotels can never offer. Strolling in the courtyard at dusk, you can hear the bell of a distant temple, the wind in the valley carries the flutter of prayer flags, and occasionally a yak passes by outside the fence, flicking its tail as if greeting. Lao Wang said: "This isn’t staying in a hotel, it’s like renting a valley as a homestay!"🌄 🥘 Fallen for Gangtey’s food: Bhutanese dishes with that "wok hei"! We both agree that Gangtey’s kitchen must hide Aman Bhutan’s "ace chef"——the Bhutanese food here is the only one that made us lick the plate: The Bhutanese fried rice is a must-try! Long-grain rice fried to separate grains, mixed with local small radish cubes and egg crumbs, with enough wok hei like it’s stir-fried on a home stove. The sprinkled chili powder has a mild spiciness, and it’s not greasy even after two bowls; The stir-fried cabbage with chili is even more surprising: cabbage chopped roughly, stir-fried to have charred edges with the aroma of firewood. The spiciness of the chili just wakes up the taste buds, and it’s so fragrant with red rice that you want to scrape the bottom of the bowl clean😋; Even the breakfast local porridge is great: made with and pumpkin, thick enough to coat the spoon, served with the housekeeper’s homemade pickles. A warm bowl down, and you’ll have energy for hiking. 🥾 More than just relaxing: home to Bhutan’s most beautiful hiking and hot stone baths Gangtey’s "wildness" is the most touching part of Aman: The hiking trail is as beautiful as stepping into a Miyazaki animation: following the guide for two hours, you’ll pass through forests with prayer flags, meadows full of small purple flowers, and at the top, you can overlook the entire Phobjikha Valley. Black-necked cranes occasionally fly overhead (this is their habitat🦢); The sunset hot stone bath (p8) is a healing : the stone bathtub is paved with hot local black stones, and when cold water is poured, white mist rises. Soaking in it while watching the sunset dye the snow-capped mountains golden red, even the fatigue in the bones is steamed away. The best part is that when returning from hiking, the butler has already prepared ginger tea and naan in the room, warming from the stomach to the heart. 🐾 Two "hotel mascot" dogs: breakfast companions like Hachiko! The two dogs raised by the hotel are the most anticipated "surprises" every day: One named Xiaoba (Little Eight), with yellow and white fur, eyes as gentle as the protagonist in Hachiko: A Dog’s Story. Every morning, he squats at the restaurant door on time, and when we sit down, he puts his head on the table leg, staring eagerly (but super well-behaved, never snatching food); One named Xiaohei (Little Black), with shiny black fur, a little rascal who loves to chase us with a toy ball in his mouth. When hiking, he follows as a "guide," jumps into streams to roll around, and wags his tail for pets after splashing us with water. One morning, Xiaoba even secretly put his paw on my knee, while Xiaohei napped at Lao Wang’s feet. The sun streamed through the restaurant’s wooden windows, and the scene was as warm as a painting. ⚠️ A note: high altitude, go at your own pace Gangtey has the highest altitude among Aman Bhutan properties. It’s easy to get out of breath when walking fast, and you have to take stairs slowly. I had a slight headache on the first day, but the butler quickly brewed butter tea, saying "two cups will help," and sure enough, I felt better in the afternoon. Friends with severe altitude sickness should be cautious, but for us, this little "challenge" is nothing #BoutiqueRetreat #AmanResorts #AmanJunkie #BhutanTravel #DreamDestination
