🇦🇹 Vienna 2-Day In-Depth Travel Guide

Bring some cash 💶 (some entrance fees or tips may require it). We stayed at a hotel near Vienna Central Station and bought a 24-hour Vienna public transport ticket for €8 per person. Most attractions in Vienna are within walking distance starting from Karlskirche. Schönbrunn Palace is quite far – consider visiting if you have extra time. 📍 Day 1 Belvedere Palace → Karlskirche → Golden Hall → Hofburg Palace → National Library → Sisi Museum → Plague Column → St. Peter‘s Church → St. Stephen’s Cathedral Belvedere Palace: €19. Buy tickets online in advance to avoid queues. There’s a beautiful lake perfect for photos. Don’t miss Klimt’s The Kiss! 🖼️ Karlskirche ⛪: Student ticket €5 (cash only). Climb to the top for views – the interior is earthy and majestic. Golden Hall: Book early! We bought standing tickets for €8 each on the same morning. No photos during the performance ❌📸. The exterior is elegant red and white. Coat check: €1 per item (cash only). Hofburg 🗽: Great for photos outside – the carved facade and lawn are photogenic. Tickets needed to enter. National Library 📚: Adults €10, students €6. Holds 2.4 million books – stunning and golden, but fairly small (30 mins max). Sisi Museum 🎀: We skipped it, but it tells the story of Empress Sisi’s life. Plague Column: A quick photo stop (5 mins) – a memorial to victims of the Black Death. St. Peter’s Church: Free entry, next to the Plague Column. Impressive and sometimes hosts concerts. St. Stephen’s Cathedral: Free entry. A Gothic landmark – visually stunning! 😍 📍 Day 2 Vienna State Opera → Kunsthistorisches Museum → Votivkirche Vienna State Opera: Book months ahead for performances! We took a 30-min guided tour for €8. Not all lights are on when there’s no show. Grand Romanesque architecture. Kunsthistorisches Museum 🖼️: Tickets on site – adult €21, student €18, audio guide €6. Huge and overwhelming – allow 2+ hours. Preserve your energy – it’s worth it! Votivkirche 🏰: Free, less crowded. Reminded me of a church in Wuhan – interior is less impressive than others. #ViennaTravel #EuropeTravel #Austria 🇦🇹✨
