Arrived in Darwin at 1 AM, took an Uber to a hotel for a quick rest. Day 1οΈβ£ Started with coffee β and explored Darwin CBD on foot β the city is small and can be covered in 2 hours. Highlights: π Bicentennial Park π Parliament House of NT π Waterfront Precinct π Stokes Hill Wharf Rented a 4WD Jeep (though didnβt really need it for Kakadu). β οΈ Note: Excess mileage fee charged at $0.33/km beyond 100 km/day (common in Australia). Stocked up on water, snacks, and food at a supermarket β Kakadu has limited supplies. Downloaded offline Google Maps (no signal in Kakadu!). Drove 3 hours to Mercure Kakadu Crocodile Hotel π¨: Only international chain in Kakadu, located in Jabiru. Next to gas station & supermarket. Rooms are slightly old but clean. Only one restaurant, but food was surprisingly good! Day 2οΈβ£ Visited Kakadu Visitor Center for tickets + park map. Staff warned that Jim Jim Falls was closed β saved us a trip! Highlights: π Ubirr Rock Art (largest site) π Burrungkuy + Gunwarrdehwarrde Lookout π Nawurlandja Lookout π Yellow Water Cruise (Highly recommend! π): Booked 4:30 PM cruise for sunset views. $130 AUD/person β shuttle departs from Cooinda Lodge bus stop before 4:10 PM. Saw crocodiles, buffalo, and birds β ended with a stunning sunset! π Stopped at Cultural Center for Aboriginal exhibits on the way to Cooinda. Day 3οΈβ£ Early visit to wetlands + bought souvenirs at Coles. Drove back to Darwin Airport, returned the car, and caught QF113 to Singapore at 2:55 PM. #DarwinTravel #Australia #KakaduNationalPark #OffTheBeatenPath #AdventureAwaits π¦πΊβ¨
