🇦🇺 Tasmania Revisited | Launceston Day Trip 🦆
The weather hasn’t been great – cloudy ☁️ and rainy 🌧️. But we checked the forecast and decided to drive northwest where it was sunny ☀️. Here’s how the day went: 📍 Anvers Chocolate Factory 🍫 Their truffle chocolates are delicious – and they offer free tasting! Came here last summer but didn’t buy any (it was too hot 🫠). This time I grabbed a small gift box with 4 truffles – perfect as a souvenir ($10) 🎁 📍 The Big Platypus 🦆 Part of Australia’s “Big Things” sculpture series – a bit creepy but fun 😅 There’s also a free woodcraft museum next to it featuring competitive lumberjack sports (like the Easter Show log chopping 🪵) 📍 Tasmanian Arboretum 🌳 My top pick for spotting wild platypus! Entry: $10 per person (honesty system in winter – no staff 👀) We saw THREE platypuses today 🦦✨ – they live in the lake here. Pro tip: Look for bubbles on the water surface → that’s them! 📍 Jailhouse Grill 🍽️ Dinner in Launceston – a prison-themed steakhouse we revisited 🏭 They offer a salad bar 🥗 and huge 650g steaks (called the “Last Meal” 😂) We ordered Tassie oysters, a seafood platter, and steak – all grilled over charcoal 🔥 Fair prices + great flavor. Highly recommended if you’re craving Western food! 🏡 Ended the night by the fireplace . Our host even covered the outdoor fire pit with a waterproof layer (because of the rain) and added extra wood 🪵❤️ – such a thoughtful touch! Tomorrow’s plan: ☀️ Heading to Little Blue Lake in the northeast Maybe exploring downtown or driving up to Ben Lomond for snow views 🏔️ #Tasmania #RoadTripTassie #Launceston #FoodieAdventure #PlatypusWatching #ChocolateLover #WoodCarving #WildlifeEncounter #TravelAustralia
