🇧🇷|Capybara Spotting at the University of São Paulo (USP)
As the top academic institution in Latin America, USP is a powerhouse for education and career prospects in the region. But for tourists? Not the best place to see capybaras—here’s why: 1️⃣ Getting In: We took a taxi and slipped in smoothly, but another car got stopped and had to walk 30-40 minutes to enter. The campus was eerily empty—no crowds, no hustle. 2️⃣ The Capybara Hunt: Their hangout spot is marked on the last photo (a huge grassy field). Access restricted: Guards + a big watchdog block visitors without student IDs. After pleading and lurking, we finally found two students to help—but no guarantees! Only success: A long-lens zoom shot of one shy capybara grazing. 3️⃣ Struggle Extras: No water vendors in sight—ended up parched and exhausted. Even the soccer fields required student IDs. 💡 Verdict: Tourists: Skip it—too unpredictable. Expats in São Paulo? Perfect for weekend runs, cycling, or grassy naps (safe + peaceful). #Capybara# University of São Paulo# São Paulo#Brazil#travel guide#trip diary
