🇨🇦 A hidden gem of Filipino street food in Waterloo
Tucked away in a plaza across from Laurier University, this little shop serves incredibly tasty Filipino snacks! It feels like a family-run business by a couple. The decor is simple, but every dish is plated with a touch of care [thumbs up] 🍝 Pancit Bihon It’s roughly crispy pork belly stir-fried with rice noodles? The crispy pork belly is super crispy—so dry and crunchy it’s almost hard to bite! But one bite is packed with flavor, though three might feel a bit greasy haha. The fat content is quite high! The stir-fried rice noodles themselves surprised me—they’re cooked nice and dry, not oily at all! The seasoning is just right, very pleasant, and there are lots of fresh, crunchy veggies mixed in. The long beans are my favorite part! 🦐 Pansit Palabok The shrimp here are a bit small and sparse [grinning]. The stir-fried noodles are still fragrant, but the seasoning is milder than the first dish, with a hint of smokiness. Personally, this one felt just average. 🍢 BBQ pork skewer It’s a bit too sweet [erm]. I took one bite and gave up. 🍖 Siomai Homemade pork siomai! The filling is hearty with a little broth. To me, it’s more like an open-faced dumpling [erm]—the wrapper tastes similar to dumpling skin, with a bit of thickness. Hope I get a chance to try their big platter next time! 📍 Rosel’s #food #WaterlooFun #WaterlooLife #WaterlooFood #CanadianLife
