🇨🇦 Northern Lights in Winnipeg|Real Shot

A green band of light dancing slowly across the sky—this was a pretty good show in October 2024! 🌌 However, Winnipeg’s terrain is quite flat, making it challenging to find interesting foregrounds or layered compositions. Hopefully in 2025, we can chase the aurora somewhere new and capture more unique scenes! 🌠 📍 Location: Around Winnipeg (Recommended spots: Birds Hill, Gimli, various Provincial Parks) 📅 Time: October 2024, 9PM–2AM 📸 Gear: Nikon Z7II & Z 20mm lens ⚙️ Settings: Varies based on aurora strength and movement—generally ISO 1600–3200, shutter speed 8–20s 📡 Forecast: KP5 or higher is ideal for great shots (decent chances recently!) Personal Tips: 1️⃣ Stay away from city light pollution. Look for open areas like lakesides or empty roads. 2️⃣ Use Live View to manually focus to infinity. 3️⃣ Batteries drain fast in the cold—bring extras! 4️⃣ I love using foreground elements like roads, lakes, or silhouettes. Try to avoid distracting objects like power lines. #Aurora #Winnipeg #Photography #WinnipegLife #Manitoba #TravelCanada #NorthernLights #ExploreWinnipeg #Canada 🌟📸❄️
