🇨🇦 Wander Diary 2|Memories of Food & Fun in Winnipeg

⏳ Time flies! I spent 6 years here before moving to Toronto. Now I’m back wandering around again—so many memories flooded in these past few days. 🌆 The city isn’t huge, but there’s still plenty to explore. I’ve grouped nearby spots together for easier visits—feel free to adjust the order. Enjoy! 1️⃣ Canadian Museum for Human Rights A national museum showcasing struggles and achievements in human rights throughout history. Great for history lovers—keep an eye out for some Chinese history too! Fun fact: the museum is pictured on the $10 bill 💵—perfect photo op! Free on Sundays 🆓—no reservation needed, just pick up tickets at the front desk. You might encounter protesters outside—just ignore them and head in. The Forks Market A historic market full of food stalls and small shops. Climb up to see a nice view of the area. Their yogurt with blueberries 🫐 is highly recommended—real fruit pieces inside! The River Trail Right behind The Forks—a lovely lakeside path with benches to relax, snack, and enjoy the view. 🅿️ All three spots are within walking distance. Parking is available nearby ~$2.5/hr. 2️⃣ Assiniboine Park Zoo Home to a variety of animals and special exhibits. This time we even got to touch a sloth, a pangolin, and a hedgehog! Fun for both kids and adults. We saw a polar bear too 🐻‍❄️—though it was hiding from the heat. The Churchill exhibit is photogenic 📸 and super engaging. Don’t miss the seals dancing and blowing bubbles! The Leaf A tropical botanical garden—super humid in summer (better to visit in winter!). Filled with lush plants and live butterflies 🦋. 🎫 Combo tickets are cheaper online 🅿️ Free parking available 3️⃣ University of Manitoba The campus is so quiet during summer—perfect for a nostalgic stroll. 🅿️ Paid parking ‼️ As someone who’s lived in Vancouver and Toronto, I honestly think these Winnipeg eats beat them both: 1️⃣ Golden Loong: cold skin noodles, hand-pulled noodles, and stir-fries—all delicious! 2️⃣ Ding Hao: their phở (especially rare beef) is absolutely YYDS! 🍜 3️⃣ BDI Ice Cream: I had it 4 times in 8 days! The texture is unique—nowhere else compares. Really hope they expand to other cities! 🚗 Don’t speed—undercover cops are everywhere 🚨 ✏️ To be continued... #Canada #CanadianTravel #Winnipeg #WinnipegLife #WinnipegFood #WinnipegExploration #Travel #Wandering 🍁📸✨
