🇨🇦 Waterloo | Tomahawk Steak: A Feast for Meat Lovers 🍖

What to do after final exams? Obviously, have a big feast with your besties!! For dinner tonight, we headed to Charcoal Steakhouse in Kitchener—a steakhouse recommended by T1—to dig into a tomahawk steak. This huge, hearty dish gently soothed our tired souls. Without further ado, let’s start introducing the dishes in the order of the photos, beginning with our star! FLINTSTONE TOMAHAWK ($179.95) 🥩 The tomahawk steak: 40 ounces of USDA Prime, cooked to medium-rare. It’s the ultimate choice for a luxury dinner—this indulgent, satisfying experience is a must for every meat lover. The meat is rich, tender, and juicy, served with three sauces: mixed pepper salt, aged cheese spicy sauce, and butter sauce. The sides are Caesar salad and pan-seared fruits and vegetables. It’s one of Charcoal’s top-recommended dishes, and totally worth upgrading for! FILET MIGNON ($47.95) 🥩 A 7-ounce filet mignon, cooked to medium-rare. I dedicated a whole post to this before, so I won’t go into too much detail—but it’s an excellent steak. The meat is fresh and tender, served with fries. A must-try for steak enthusiasts! CARIBBEAN CRAB CAKES ($15.45) 🦀 Pan-seared blue crab cakes. Fresh blue crab meat is formed into patties and pan-fried, then paired with Havana chili, lime aioli, and mango sauce. The sauce balances sweet, sour, and savory notes, enhancing the crab cakes’ freshness without overpowering them (though the crab meat itself is already virtually odor-free). Absolutely delicious! PETITE BEEF WELLINGTONS ($17.95) 🥢 Mini beef wellingtons. I also wrote about these in a previous post, so I’ll keep it brief—they’re amazing too! STEAK TARTARE ($19.95) 🥄 Steak tartare: Raw sirloin is diced and mixed with chopped green onions, capers, mustard, and parsley to make the tartare filling. It’s served with housemade fried potato chips, and seasoned with garlic slices and horseradish aioli. It’s a great appetizer with delicate, tender meat. For drinks, we had the 2015 SANPOLINO BRUNELLO DI MONTALCINO 🍷. It has an excellent aroma—rich and fragrant. The wine is a clear rose-red color with a moderate acidity that tastes wonderful. After decanting, it has a slight sweetness, and the texture is completely smooth, so you can drink it right after opening. The aftertaste is moderate—overall, a fantastic bottle of red wine. We bought this wine ourselves and brought it to the restaurant. There’s a $20 corkage fee to enjoy it there. I’ve listed the price of each dish, so I’m too lazy to calculate the per-person cost. For a restaurant like this, per-person estimates aren’t very useful—you’re better off checking the individual prices directly.
