🇩🇪 3.23 My First Day in Germany: Freiburg Adventure!
🛃 Frankfurt Airport Arrival Landed at 5:40 AM, super jet-lagged but excited! At customs, the officer asked something (probably about uni registration?), but I just said “Ich bin eine neue Studentin” + handed over my passport & admission letter. Success! 🎉 Grabbed my two giant suitcases and sneaked through the “Nothing to Declare” lane (pretended not to see the officers staring at people 😅). 🚆 Train Chaos to Freiburg First time seeing so many foreigners—felt like a movie! 🎬 Found the Fernbahnhof (long-distance trains) with Google Maps. ICE to Frankfurt Süd: Two nice German guys helped me with my luggage! (Germans = heroes 🙌) DB app confusion: My train had 3 sections on one track?! Sat in a Familienzone carriage by mistake (no check-in there), so I locked my bags and ran to another cabin. Ticket inspector appeared magically—phew! ✅ 🌳 Scenic Ride to Freiburg Passed Mannheim, Karlsruhe… and endless fields, forests, and tiny villages (so Deutschland-Dorf vibes 😂). ✨ Freiburg First Impressions Stunning city (even prettier than expected!). Arrived on a transport strike day (23.03)—luckily, my Airbnb was one street from the station. Best Airbnb host ever: Taught me how to use German doors, stove, heater, coffee maker, and trash sorting ♻️. Also hyped up Schauinsland & Basel (but cable car was closed 😢). 😅 Weird Encounters A Black guy at Stühlinger Kirchplatz yelled !” in perfect Mandarin… I ignored him. 🏃♀️💨 Later, two Europeans asked “Do you speak English?”—my brain froze, so I ran away. 🚄 Off to Hamburg! 6-hour train ride from south to north—so efficient! Next stop: Hamburg uni life! 🎓 #Germany #StudyAbroad #Freiburg #FirstDayDiaries #DBStruggles #HamburgBound
