🇩🇰 Copenhagen | Denmark’s Stunning Hidden Gem: Mons Klint
Mons Klint is a 6-kilometer-long cliff on the Danish island of Møn, with its highest point reaching approximately 128 meters. Composed of Cretaceous strata—mainly fossilized coccolithophores and planktonic foraminifera—it is a relic of the shallow sea that covered the area 70 million years ago (Late Cretaceous period) 🦕. Today, a few classmates and I rented a car to visit these white cliffs. Along the way, we passed meadows, lakes, rice fields, small towns, and forests 🌾. Sometimes we discussed academic topics, sometimes shared tips for living in Denmark, and sometimes just sat in silence. Rock and classical music alternated in the car 🎶. As we descended the stairs, the giant white cliffs and milky-blue sea rushed into view 🌊. A Corgi puppy was too scared to go down, so its owner carried it on their shoulder 🐶. Seagulls stood motionless on the rocks. Trees that had rolled down from the cliffs were getting a new lease on life by absorbing seawater on the beach 🌱. At noon, we sat on the beach and shared food. They brought bread, cookies, instant noodles, sausages, a speaker, a portable kettle, and coffee 🧺. Sunlight sparkled, and the waves gently rippled—like the wagging tail of a passing puppy 🐾. On the way back, we got a little lost. There was no signal in the mountains, and it felt like a jungle adventure. Up hills, down hills, up again, down again. The speaker in my backpack kept playing at a steady pace 🎵. Suddenly, I felt completely free from the mindset that “only buying a house, a car, getting married, and having kids are serious things.” It turns out my life can also be made up of “useless” time, unfolding in such a vast world 🌌. #UnfilteredTravelGuide #OffTheBeatenPath #NordicTravel #NordicLife #DenmarkTravel #NordicStudyAbroad #MyStudyAbroadLife
