🇬🇧 A Little Review of Bentoya, the Japanese Restaurant in Edinburgh

Recently, I visited Bentoya, a Japanese restaurant in Edinburgh. It's the kind of place that looks amazing in photos but has a mixed bag when it comes to taste. Here are my honest dining thoughts: My absolute favorite was the **King Mushroom Roll**. It was warm, with crispy mushrooms that had a rich and layered flavor. It was definitely the highlight of the meal for me. 🍄 The **Chicken Box** was also pretty good. The chicken skewers were flavorful, and the fried chicken was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. The portion size was just right—something students would enjoy having occasionally. 🍗 The **Large Sashimi Set** looked fantastic when it arrived at the table, but the taste was just average. The freshness was there, but the tuna, for example, lacked the rich, fatty texture I was hoping for. The cuts and preparation weren't particularly refined, which was a bit disappointing. 🍣 The least recommended item was the **Crazy Tonkotsu Ramen**. The only thing it had going for it was the presentation. The broth tasted like something you could buy from a Japanese supermarket, and there was hardly any noodles. At £14+, it was really not worth the price. 🍜 In the end, our bill for three people came to £120 (including service charge). Overall, the experience was slightly above average, and the value for money was just okay. It's a good spot for taking photos and occasional gatherings, but I wouldn't recommend the ramen or sashimi. 💸 #EdinburghFood #JapaneseCuisine #BentoyaExperience #RealReview #NoHypeNoHate #SushiPlatter #ChickenBento #RamenDisappointment #DiningInUK #Edinburgh #UniversityOfEdinburgh #Glasgow #JapaneseFood
