🇬🇧 Birmingham 3 Days & 2 Nights: Food, Stay & Fun Diary
Recently went to Birmingham for work and got there a weekend early — so here’s my little recap of eats, stays, and explores!!! 🏨 Hotel: I stayed at the Macdonald Burlington Hotel — right across from New Street Station 🚉, literally less than 2 mins walk. Super convenient! It was around £100 per night, breakfast not included, but you can have it delivered to your room. Pretty handy 👍 🍢 Blank Cafe: A small snack spot near the train station, about 6 mins walk from the hotel. They have the craved “starch sausage” and I highly, highly recommend the fried rice cake, fries, and chicken combo 🍗 — sooo good 😋. Their red bean ice milk is also delicious! 🛍️ Red Brick Market: Such an I-person-friendly place! About 15 mins walk from the station. The area felt a bit quiet on the way, but it was totally worth it — so fun and interesting!!! There are all kinds of toys, food, clothes, and designer stalls. If you're interested, I can make a separate post about it 📝. Most shops don’t have staff inside — you just pick what you like and pay at the central checkout. Cool, right? 🍧 OCHA Cafe: Located in Chinatown, just 4-5 mins from the hotel. Their shaved ice is incredible 😍 — recommend the mango 🥭 or lychee rose 🌷 flavor. The pink one is especially photogenic! 🇰🇷 Litaewon Korean Restaurant: Originally wanted to try the Japanese place next door, but it was closed. This Korean spot looked busy so we gave it a try — and the army stew was delicious! Only £25 with no service charge. The waitress was super nice and even recommended other Asian town eats. Sadly, we didn’t have time to try them all 🥹 🧋 ORICHA: Known as the best bubble tea in Birmingham! Just 2 mins from the hotel. Must-try: Taro Fresh Milk with Mochi — no sugar needed 🙅 (the taro is sweet enough). You can really taste the taro bits. So good 👍 🍨 Pop&Roll: What I’d call the “must-buy souvenir near Birmingham Station”! Amazing handmade egg rolls — strongly recommend the chocolate and original flavors!!! Their ice cream is great too 🍦, and the owner is lovely. A bit tricky to find though: search for TK Maxx, take the escalators up until you exit into the mall, then turn right. Wish I could’ve tried the passion fruit hotpot at Everything’s Great Hotpot 🍲, but I was alone this time… next trip! #Birmingham #LifeInBirmingham #BirminghamFood #ExploreBirmingham #BirminghamShopping
