🇬🇧 Cambridge Day Trip | No Bookings & Under £70!
Who knew London to Cambridge could be this easy and affordable? Arrived around 11am for a spontaneous adventure! 🗺️ Itinerary Breakdown 📍 Fitzwilliam Museum 🏛️ Egyptian mummies, Chinese porcelain, and a few Monets/Van Goghs upstairs. Honest review: The building itself (hello, grand staircase!) outshone the artifacts for us casual viewers. 🍕 Lunch: Aromi Pizza 🍆 Eggplant pizza = MUST-TRY! (Zero eggplant taste, all cheesy goodness.) Other pizzas: decent (£7-ish). Tiramisu = 👍, pistachio cake = way too sweet (tasted like mung bean paste?!). ⏰ Corpus Clock ⏳ Right outside Aromi! Learned it was unveiled by Hawking and has a "time-eating monster" (???). We nodded along. 🍏 Newton’s Apple Tree 🌳 Leaf-less but photogenic! FYI: The real tree’s in Newton’s hometown—this is a descendant. Cute moment: A friendly local asked to photograph my "unusual pose" with an apple. His camera, though—RIP that adorable pic! 🚣 Punting! 💷 Skipped paid colleges (King’s/Trinity), opted for £15/pp boat tour (no pre-booking!). Fun fact: Our guide spoke Chinese phrases—learned from tourists! "40% of you are Chinese!" he laughed. 🧋 Xiao Ying Tea House ☕ Winter survival move: Cozy fruit tea (caffeine-free!) recommended by the sweet owner. 🍜 Dinner: Baan Thai 🚫 AVOID! Tom Yum = cheesy?! Pad Thai = sweeter than Shanghai candy. Only edible item: greasy pork chop. McDonald’s would’ve been better. 🎄 Christmas Market ✨ Festive and free (unlike London’s pricey Winter Wonderland!). Browsed handmade crafts and drank mulled wine. 💰 Damage Control Total spent: Under £70! (Train £15 + Food £25 + Punting £15 + Misc £10) #CambridgeOnABudget #SpontaneousTrip #UKStudentLife
