π¬π§ Cambridge Live! I Really Regret Not Going Sooner π
My mom only had 7 days in the UK, so we had to choose between Cambridge and Oxford β and Iβm so glad we picked Cambridge! It did not disappoint π π We did a day trip from London with an open return train ticket β valid for any off-peak return time that day. Pro tip: Use a Railcard for extra discount! We departed from Kingβs Cross and accidentally found Platform 9ΒΎ β a happy surprise for Harry Potter fans! π§βοΈβ¨ π First stop: a famous Shaanxi restaurant in Cambridge. We had the classic βSanqin Comboβ and beef noodles β tastes like home ππ The place is small and often busy at lunch β try to go off-peak! π£ Punting is a MUST in Cambridge! We couldnβt find the recommended punting company after wandering around, so we booked with a street vendor. π‘ Important: They initially quoted Β£50 for two people β way above average! My mom β a pro bargainer who doesnβt speak English β managed to negotiate it down to Β£35 for two! π·βοΈ Donβt be shy to bargain especially in tourist spots! Finally got on the boatβ¦ and Iβm telling you, YOU HAVE TO GO PUNTING IN CAMBRIDGE. Itβs breathtaking β no words, just see the live footage (but real life is even prettier!). The punter gave a fun commentary in English, and we even saw a wedding on a punt! πΆπ People on the banks were cheering and shouting blessings β it was pure happiness ππ« After the ride, we strolled around and visited the Fitzwilliam Museum β a beautiful free museum πΌοΈπ« (Note: check closing times in advance!) #UKTravel #CambridgeUniversity #PhotoSpot #NewtonsAppleTree #FarewellToCambridge
