🇬🇧 Honest Review of Howie's (Edinburgh Scottish Cuisine)
Heard this was a local favorite for "authentic Scottish food"... but left disappointed. 😕 Here's my take: 💰 Lunch Set Menu 💷 £18.95 : - Starter: Haggis - Main: Catch of the day (fish) 💷 £23.95 : Same + a drink *Good value, but...* I got the £18 set + added: - Steak (£23.95) - Pigeon (£7.95) 🕊️ Pigeon Just... plain pigeon with fried sweet potato scraps and leaves. 🥀 The only salvageable part was the sauce underneath . 🐑 Haggis Classic Scottish offal with mashed sweet potato & potato. Not gamey , but dry—had to mix it with the pigeon sauce! 🥄 (Friends say Mash Bar's is better. W Hotel's breakfast haggis > this.) 🐟 Catch of the Day Bland fish on cabbage + 2 potatoes. 🥔 The "herb sauce" was... fine? But compared to a similar dish I had in Iceland? Not even close. 🥩 Steak From a "partner farm," ordered medium-rare ... came out well-done 😤. Chose butter sauce (bad call). 📌 Final Thoughts - Walked in easily (no queue despite online warnings). - £18.95 is cheap , but... mediocre at best . - *Maybe I ordered wrong?* #EdinburghEats #UKFood #ScottishCuisine
