🇬🇭 Divorce in the Republic of Ghana | A Journey Inspired by a Song
How many first heard of this country because of that song? 🎶 Finally made it to Ghana! Before arriving, my biggest worry was Ghana’s visa—several friends had been thoroughly "tested" by its strict process. 😅 Prepared meticulously with Plan A, B, and C… ✅ Applied for a visa in Benin ($25, supposed to take a week). ✅ Used my tried-and-true "persuasion + charm" Africa travel hack—got it in 3 days! Even scored the embassy staff’s number. So touched! 😭 Crossed into Ghana via land from Togo, slightly nervous—Ghana’s visa-on-arrival usually costs $300! But Lady Luck was on my side—smooth entry, no one even hinted at "tips." ☺️ Ghana: The "Land of Castles" 🏰 For nearly 500 years, colonizers built forts here, turning them into hubs for gold plunder & the slave trade. Now, these UNESCO World Heritage Sites stand as solemn reminders of history. Accra is packed with them. Day Trip from Accra: Two Must-See Castles 📍 Elmina Castle (80 GHS) Oldest European building in sub-Saharan Africa (built 1481 by the Portuguese). Once a brutal slave dungeon, now a hauntingly beautiful coastal landmark. 📍 Cape Coast Castle (80 GHS, 30 mins from Elmina) Built by the Dutch, later seized by the British. The largest and most infamous slave fort in Ghana. The Atlantic coastline stretches wide and clear... One day, history’s painful echoes will fade, and we’ll move forward—toward love and peace. ✌️🌍 #GlobeTrotter #TravelInspo #VisaHacks #Ghana #OffTheBeatenPath #SlaveCastles #AfricaTravel #HiddenGems #CulturalTravel #InGhanaRepublicDivorce 🎶
