🇮🇹 Sicily Travel Diary — Catania Chapter

🇮🇹 Sicily Travel Diary — Catania Chapter Hello everyone! Today I'm sharing my second stop in Sicily — Catania 🏙️. As Sicily's second-largest city, it blends modern elements with local life vibes much better than Palermo. Must-Visit Spots ✅ 1️⃣ Kathedrale Sant‘Agata (Catania Cathedral) Free entry 🎫, stunning exterior. The nearby square is perfect for a relaxing stroll — a must-visit! 2️⃣ Piazza Università (University Square) Visited in early December with a Christmas market 🎄. There’s also a free small museum inside! 3️⃣ View of Etna (Volcano Lookout) Climb the steps for a distant view of Mt. Etna 🌋. For a closer look, join a hiking tour (though honestly, it’s just black rocks up close 😂). 4️⃣ Fish Market 🐟 Open until ~2 PM — go early! Bigger than Palermo’s market. Bought 1kg of shrimp for €8 🦐 and lamb intestine rolls (€1 each) — fried and dipped in soy sauce + chili flakes, so good! (Had them cooked at a Chinese restaurant.) Skip the salted roasted chestnuts — meh. Food Recs 🍽️ 1️⃣ Handmade Pasta 🍝 Tried eggplant & sausage pasta (like "fish-flavored eggplant" in Chinese cuisine). Heads-up: Italians serve pasta al dente (slightly undercooked). 📍 Spaghetti & Co. (Via Crociferi, 77) 2️⃣ Italian Pastries & Coffee ☕🥐 Bow-shaped croissants & cappuccino — locals love this spot! 📍 God‘s Pastry Shop (Via Don Luigi Sturzo, 69/71) 3️⃣ Chinese Food Fix 🥢 Great Wall China Restaurant helped cook our seafood. Great wok hei . 📍 Via Pacini, 83 AVOID This Place 🚫 Panda 판다🐼 (Korean Restaurant) Overpriced (€70+ for two bibimbap bowls?? Even pricier than Germany!). Way too much sauce — couldn’t taste anything else. #EuropeTravel #Sicily #Italy #Catania 🌍✨
