🇲🇽 Just Returned from My First 7-Day Solo Trip to Mexico City!

Here’s my fresh take with all you need to know 👇 👮🏻‍♂️ Safety: As a major tourist destination, Mexico City is quite safe in tourist and upscale neighborhoods. I stayed around Roma, Polanco, Centro, and Coyoacán. Even passed over "risky" areas via cable car during the day without entering. Felt safe walking alone at night too! ✅ Recommend staying in Roma – convenient and safe. ✅ Stay low-key: I left all jewelry and watches at home, wore a non-luxury backpack in front, used a phone strap, and wore a mask 😷 – blended right in! ✅ Plenty of armed police patrolling even late at night – very reassuring. 🚇 Transport: Mexico City never sleeps, and traffic is no joke 🚗💨. ✅ Used a mix of ride-hailing during off-peak hours + public transport during rush hours. ✅ Didi International worked great – slightly cheaper than Uber. ✅ Got a rechargeable transit card – works for metro, metrobus, buses, and cable cars! ✅ Google Maps + asking friendly armed police made getting around easy. ✅ Loved the women/children-only carriages – respectful and well-organized. ✅ Shoutout to Metrobus for dedicated lanes! ⛅️ Weather: Temperatures range between 14-26°C year-round ☀️❄️. May-Oct is rainy season, but rain usually comes in the evening. I explored early, rested at the hotel around 2-3 PM, then went out again after rain – perfect balance! 👨🏽 People: Extremely warm and helpful! Strangers often offered help when I looked lost staring at my phone 🗺️. Even got spontaneous translation help in museums (many only have Spanish guides). 🫒 Fruit: Must try: prickly pear (tuna) 🌵 and papaya! So delicious 😋 🌮 Food: From street tacos (50 pesos) to Michelin-starred restaurants ($4–200 USD per person). Most mid-range restaurants include tax – fancy ones add 15%. Tip 10-15% – yes, the US tipping culture is here too. 🚶🏻‍♀️ Itinerary: Spent 7 full days in CDMX for a deep dive! ✅ Teotihuacán Pyramid (45km away – 100% worth it) ✅ Walked 20k+ steps daily and still didn’t see everything ✅ Already dreaming of going back for another week! 💵 Exchange Rate: 1 CAD = 13.9 pesos | 1 RMB = 2.6 pesos ✅ Public transit: 5-7 pesos ✅ Street taco: ~50 pesos ✅ City taxi: ~150 pesos ❤️ Frida and Diego – forever entangled in life and now printed on the 500-peso bill. Is it irony or crown to their love? #MexicoCity #Travel #Guide #SoloTravel #CDMX #Foodie #TravelTips 🌮✈️🗺️
