🇲🇽 Mexico: Dangerous but Truly Beautiful…
Went to Mexico last week for spring break! Here’s a simple travel guide~ ⏳ Itinerary: Day 1 Landed around noon → had lunch and ice cream near the hotel (Santa Clara is sooo good! Miss it already😭) → checked in → walked around the National Palace and Palace of Fine Arts → returned to hotel after dark. Day 2 Ate tacos at a random spot next to the hotel (everything feels so cheap compared to the US😆) → strolled through Roma Norte (many shops weren’t open yet, but so many people walking dogs🐕!) → took a 5-hour bus to Guanajuato. Day 3 Explored Guanajuato on foot — the town is super small and very walkable. Took the cable car up to Pipila Mountain for sunset🌄. Day 4 Took a 1.5-hour bus to San Miguel de Allende at 11am. This town is also small but feels a bit more refined than Guanajuato✨. Just wandered around, then had lunch at a restaurant with a view of the church spire. Day 5 5-hour bus back to Mexico City. The traffic was insane — didn’t get back to the hotel until almost 4pm. Ate amazing beef offal soup near the hotel → walked to a bakery for guava rolls🍃. Wanted to go to Handshake Speakeasy but didn’t have a reservation (remember to book in advance!!). Luckily the staff helped us book a 6pm slot the next day!🎉 Day 6 Hot air balloon tour with Volare 🎈— picked up at 5am, dropped back around noon. Went to the Frida Kahlo Museum in the afternoon (⚠️ reminder: BOOK AHEAD!!). Had the BEST tacos of my life at a market nearby — legit made me cry😭. Couldn’t enter Frida’s museum without reservation, so explored the area and went to the Anthropology Museum instead. ‼️ NEVER take taxis outside tourist spots — check my previous post about getting scammed😅 🚗 Transportation: We didn’t use public transit. Only used Didi or Uber. DO NOT take local “taxis” — you might be the next one scammed! ☎️ SIM Card: You can buy a Telcel SIM at the airport. Don’t buy too much data at once — you can top up online. But I couldn’t pay on their website that day 😅… Found a Chinese top-up app called “EasyPay Global” where you can pay in RMB — super convenient! Works in 160+ countries 🌍, and new users get discounts — lifesaver! Having internet for translation is essential since not many people speak English. Back in the US for a week now… already missing my vacation😭 Even though I got scammed, Mexico is truly incredible. #Food #StudyInUS #SeeTheWorld #Mexico #TravelMexico #MexicoData
