🇳🇵 Nepal | Ultimate Free Travel Guide⚠️ All Practical Tips

This trip covered Kathmandu, Pokhara, and Chitwan—all popular for photography. Overall, Nepal offers incredible value for money! The people are incredibly friendly, and I absolutely fell in love with this country. ❤️ Kathmandu If you’re after photos of red-brick buildings, this is the place! There are 3 Durbar Squares near the city—stunning and perfect for shooting. Stay in Thamel for easy access to everything. Durbar Squares: Entry fee is 800 NPR. Get your passport and visa stamped at the office next to the goddess temple inside the square, and you can visit unlimited times during your stay. Swayambhunath (Monkey Temple): Best reached by taxi. The monkeys are wild—avoid interacting with them! The temple offers panoramic views of Kathmandu, with beautiful trees and architecture packed into a small space. Pashupatinath Temple: Entry fee is 1000 NPR. Note that the main Hindu temple is restricted to Indians only. The "ascetics" here are often fake—they’ll charge for photos. Bhaktapur: About 1.5 hours from Thamel by car. It has more red-brick houses and temples than Kathmandu, plus the iconic Peacock Windows—ideal for photography! 💙 Pokhara Phewa Lake is incredibly relaxing—dine at lakeside restaurants while enjoying live band performances. Pokhara is also a hiking mecca, and Fishtail Mountain is visible from many lakeside spots. Paragliding: 350 RMB in peak season, 700 RMB in off-season. Includes 30 minutes of flying, full guidance, and video/photo packages. Made famous by the movie Waiting for Wind, it’s a must-try! 💚 Chitwan My favorite stop! It’s full of raw jungle vibes. I booked a 3-day, 2-night package (including meals, activities, and a flight back to Kathmandu) through my hotel for just 1200 RMB—unbeatable value. Activities include: folk song and dance performances, elephant rides through the national park to spot wildlife, boat rides, jungle treks, visits to the elephant breeding center, and even bathing while riding an elephant. ⚠️ Safety notes: Stay close in the jungle, never put hands in the water during boat rides (crocodiles are nearby!). You’ll see rhinos, wild boars, crocodiles, spotted deer up close, and interact directly with elephants and calves—it was amazing! Flight tip: Book a left window seat for your return flight to see the Himalayas! 💰 Currency & Exchange Exchange 500 RMB at the airport upon arrival (minimum for exchange). The rate is around 1 RMB = 14.5 NPR (not great, but enough for taxis and SIM cards). For better rates (1 RMB = 15.5 NPR), use Alipay at Chinese restaurants in Thamel—many accept it, and rates are higher than at the airport or ATMs. 🎫 Visa Nepal currently waives visa fees. Options: apply in advance at embassies, get a free e-visa online, or apply for a (on-arrival visa) directly in Kathmandu. 🕒 Time Difference 2 hours and 15 minutes behind Beijing time. #NepalTravel #FreeTravelGuide #Kathmandu #Pokhara #Chitwan #TravelTips
