🇳🇿 North Island Hidden Gem 🌋 Ultimate 2-Day Taupō Road Trip Guide
Taupō, located in the heart of New Zealand’s North Island, is famous for its icy-blue Huka Falls, but there’s so much more! From geothermal wonders to stunning lakeside sunsets, this town is a must-visit. 🌊 🛣 Recommended Itinerary: 🚗 We paired Taupō with Rotorua since they’re just a short drive apart (under 100 km). 📍 Love Taupō Sign – A perfect lakeside photo spot, especially at sunset. The town center nearby has plenty of great eateries. 📍 World’s Coolest McDonald’s 🍔 – A converted 1950s plane where you can dine inside the cockpit! Super unique and Insta-worthy. 📍 Wai-O-Tapu Thermal Wonderland 🌋 – One of my favorite spots! Just 30 mins from Taupō, this geothermal park reeks of sulfur (hello, rotten egg smell!) but dazzles with colorful hot springs, bubbling mud pools, and steaming craters. Pro tip: Book tickets online in advance and grab a Chinese/English guide at the entrance. Allow ~2 hours to explore. ⛲️ Lady Knox Geyser erupts daily at 10 AM—don’t miss it if you’re an early bird! 📍 Huka Falls 💙 – Only 7 km from Taupō, this powerhouse waterfall blasts 220,000 liters of turquoise water per second. So breathtaking it deserves its own post—stay tuned for pics! #NoFilterTravel #RoadTripGoals #TravelInspo #Wanderlust #TravelDiaries #NewZealand #Photography #POVYoureInNZ #TravelWithASmile ✈️📸
