🇵🇪 Cusco Travel Guide: Budget Tips + Food & Accommodation
Cusco is breathtaking, but it was also the most challenging stop on my trip! Sharing my experience to help fellow travelers~ ⚠️ Altitude Sickness is NO JOKE At 3,400m+, even as a regular gym-goer, I felt my heart racing upon arrival. ✅ Tips: Move like a sloth—no running/jumping! Buy coca leaves (tea or chewable) at supermarkets. Day 1 = Acclimatization day! Just stroll the city. 🍽️ Food Guide ✔ Safe bets: Alpaca meat at Chull’s or Tejas (near Sun Temple). San Blas Market: Fresh juices (5 soles!), local snacks. ⚠ Risky eats: San Pedro street food: Though cheap (8 soles for chicken noodle soup, 6 soles for grilled beef heart), it gave me food poisoning! Daredevil special: Nuna Raymi’s whole roasted guinea pig (not for the faint-hearted!). 🏨 Accommodation Tips Check for HEATERS—nights get freezing! Read Google Reviews for: hot water reliability + noise levels. My pick: LP Los Portales Cusco (~800 RMB/night): Great breakfast, steady hot water, heaters, prime location near Sun Temple. (Vs. Marriott’s 5,000 RMB peak rates!) 💰 Price Reference Airport → Downtown taxi: 10-15 soles Sacred Valley day tour: 60-100 soles (lunch/tickets vary) Local taxis: <10 soles Meals: 30-50 soles (tourist spots pricier; street food cheapest) #PeruTravel #CuscoOnABudget #AltitudeProblems #TravelTips
