🇵🇪 Peru Travel | Ultimate Cusco Guide
Cusco, the ancient capital of the Inca Empire, is just a 1-hour flight from Lima ✈️. Three airlines operate this route: LATAM, Sky Airline, and JetSMART—we chose Sky (no baggage allowance, but they didn’t check our bags!). ⏰ Best Time to Visit June is ideal! 🌞 The Inti Raymi (Sun Festival) on June 24th is Cusco’s biggest celebration, with parades, dances, and vibrant costumes all month long. We stumbled upon a massive parade—unforgettable! 🌡️ Weather & Packing Mornings/Nights: 4-5°C ❄️ Midday: 10-20°C ☀️ What to wear: A 3-in-1 jacket worked perfectly! ⚠️ Altitude Sickness Even with prior high-altitude experience (Shangri-La & Tibet), I felt dizzy & breathless after landing. Solution: 💊 Local altitude meds + oxygen canister (sold at pharmacies everywhere!). ✅ Rest well—it helps! 🏛️ Must-See Attractions Plaza de Armas (Main Square) & historic churches ⛪ Qorikancha (Temple of the Sun) ☀️ Moray Terraces (Inca agricultural lab!) 🏨 Where to Stay Old Town (Centro Histórico) is best—walkable to all major sites! 🛍️ Shopping Tips Skip street vendors (they overcharge!). Handicraft Center Cusco has everything (souvenirs, magnets, etc.). Since we flew budget airlines (no checked bags), we stuck to small gifts. 🍽️ FOOD = LOVE! Peruvian cuisine is INSANELY GOOD 🤤 Rucula Peruvian Restaurant (Cantonese-Peruvian fusion—yum!). Street juices (watermelon, orange—so sweet!). Giant passionfruit & corn (huge kernels!). Skip the skewers near Qorikancha at night. #Peru #Cusco #TravelGuide #OffTheBeatenPath #IntiRaymi #FoodieHeaven
