🇸🇧 What's Fun in the Solomon Islands?
🏙️ Honiara (Capital City) Central Market 🍍 – Vibrant local life, fresh fruits & crafts. National Museum 🏺 – Dive into the islands’ history & culture. 🚗 Getting around? Roads are terrible (full of potholes!). Better to join a tour (contacts at the end). 🏝️ Outer Islands (The REAL Adventure!) If you have time, fly to Gizo or Marovo—pristine beaches, epic diving, and untouched tribes! No time? Take a day trip to Tulagi & the MV World Discoverer wreck (snorkel, kayak, explore!). 🤿 Diving? Limited Options (For Now) The only dive shop in Honiara only does liveaboards (no gear rentals, just tanks/weights). Iron Bottom Sound (famous WWII wreck site) is currently off-limits unless you bring your own gear. Good news! Bilikiki Cruise says their dive shop reopens July 2024—future divers, take note! ⚔️ WWII Buffs, This Is Your Spot! Sunken warships right off the coast (some just a short walk from town). Abandoned tanks, artillery scattered around—history everywhere! ⚠️ Safety & People As a solo traveler, I stood out—some locals startled me (random shouts, shoulder taps). 😅 BUT I also met incredibly kind people: A local who drove me free from the airport. A hotel owner who upgraded my room & gave me a discount. A Fujianese expat who took me out, fed me, and even arranged a local girl to guide me for a day! 💛 This trip reminded me: The world is still full of kindness. I hope to pay it forward!
