📍 Hidden in the desert (240km from Khartoum) lie 200+ mysterious Nubian pyramids—more than Egypt! A UNESCO World Heritage site & one of the world's least-known pyramid complexes. Each one is small but enchanting. (Info as of Sept 2022) 🚌 How to Get There No direct buses, but some passing ones might stop (ask locals!). Got dropped 3km away in 50°C (122°F) heat 🥵—no tourists, just 10 camels & me. A Nubian villager suddenly appeared, trying to sell me knives 🔪... until military police rescued me (for free!). 🐪 Cheapest Camel Ride Ever! No scams here (unlike Egypt!). Quoted: 3,000 SDG (~$5) → haggled to 2,000 SDG (~$3.50). The camel guide walked 8km in brutal heat for over an hour—zero complaints! Even helped me hitchhike back (no buses!). Gave him a $5 tip—please tip fairly (but don’t overdo it!). 💡 Travel Tips Extreme heat & no facilities—bring water, sunscreen & patience! Locals are genuine (no mass tourism here).
