🇺🇸 An Underrated Gem

🇺🇸 An Underrated Gem | A Weekend in Rochester “Rochester—a small city that was never on my travel list—gave me unexpected surprises and warmth.” ❤️ Rochester far exceeded my expectations of a “small city.” Clean streets, architecturally striking buildings, uniquely diverse restaurants (though some are a bit pricey), even a Wegmans open until midnight—all speak to the energy and liveliness here~ 🌆✨ The Strong National Museum of Play was the highlight of my weekend. It’s a children’s museum featuring exhibits on toys, board games, arcade games (just $0.25 per play in this economy😭), and video games, showcasing the evolution of play across generations. What moved me most was the Wegmans Super Kids Market designed for children—mini shopping carts, shelves, even self-checkout machines are scaled to kid height. Watching them seriously role-play as “little adults” shopping and checking out, I couldn’t help but feel a pang of envy. Who didn’t dream of shopping like a grown-up when they were small? 🥹 Here, without pretending to be mature, you can easily experience the joy the museum so thoughtfully creates~ 🛒🎮 After half a day at the museum, I headed next door to Nerdvana for dinner. Every table here comes with a game console (PS/Xbox/NS), and the menu is full of creative twists! I’ve never seen anything like it—such a novel experience~ 🎮🍴 Of course, there were also regrets: no time for the Susan B. Anthony House, not finishing the George Eastman Museum, not finding particularly great Chinese food, no chance to sit in those cool-looking cafés, and no leisurely stroll downtown—because it was just too cold! 🥶 Leaving Rochester, I quietly told myself, “Once the weather warms up, I’m coming back with my road bike.” 🚴‍♀️ I want to cycle through places I haven’t yet discovered, see more scenery, listen to the stories here, and meet more people~ 🌸🗺️ Note: I broke a high score on one of the arcade machines—just putting that out there! 🤪 #Rocheste#RochesterExploration#TorontoDayTrips#TorontoLife#StudyAbroadPlog
