๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ Bay Area | Napa Valley Food, Wine & Stay Guide โฃ๏ธ

A super relaxed weekend trip last August ๐Ÿ‡โœจ โ€” as a J-person, I only planned two wineries over three days and two nights ๐Ÿ˜Œ (Tip: book wineries at least 2 weeks in advance during peak season!). โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€” ๐Ÿท Wineries: Alpha Omega & Opus One Two very different vibes โ€” loved them both! Alpha Omega Unexpectedly delightful! We did the outdoor terrace tasting next to the fountain ๐Ÿ’ฆ with views of the vineyards. So peaceful and relaxing โ€” truly a moment of pure happiness ๐Ÿฅน. They offer three tasting tiers: $75 / $100 / $125. Everyone at the table can choose different options. If you buy wine, the tasting fee is waived! Their whites are especially notable โ€” not common in Napa! Opus One No introduction needed โ€” iconic and elegant ๐Ÿ›๏ธ. Felt more like a formal wine pilgrimage. Tasting fee: $200 per person (not waived with purchase). You get to try three vintages โ€” my favorite was the 2016 ๐Ÿท. ๐Ÿ’ก Sadly, I didnโ€™t get a reservation at Promontory ๐Ÿ˜” โ€” you have to email for availability. Itโ€™s $300 per personโ€ฆ next time! โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€” ๐Ÿ›Œ Stay: Alila Napa Valley Overall experience was just okay. Didnโ€™t feel much love as a Globalist member. The room was average โ€” I stayed in a corner room with a balcony on the 2nd floor. The view was open, but the vineyards looked a bit bare ๐Ÿ‚. Good location for winery hopping though! The main building and restaurant are pretty. If you're using points (45k/night), itโ€™s worth considering โ€” much easier to book than the Big Sur location! โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€” ๐Ÿฝ๏ธ Dining: Violetto & Press Restaurant Both prix fixe dinners โ€” honestly, just alright. Violetto (inside Alila) Convenient if youโ€™re staying there. Portions were a bit small โ€” or maybe I was just too hungry from not eating all day? ๐Ÿ˜… Press (Michelin โญ) Style over substance, in my opinion. Five courses โ€” nothing memorable, and one dish was a definite miss ๐Ÿ˜ฎโ€๐Ÿ’จ. Not sure if the menu changes often. โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€” Overall, Napa Valley isnโ€™t the best value when it comes to food and lodging ๐Ÿ’ธ. Next time, I might just do a day trip! Have you been to Napa? What are your favorite spots? ๐Ÿ‘‡ #NapaValley #BayArea #WineTasting #Hyatt #Alila #Getaway #WeekendTrip #OpusOne #CaliforniaWineries #TravelGuide
