๐บ๐ธ Boston Family Fun | A Stroll Along the Providence River ๐
Even though we live in Massachusetts, we often head to Rhode Island since itโs so close! As the weather warms up, evening walks are back on our routine. One of our favorite summer spots is India Point Park and the Michael S. Van Leesten Memorial Bridge in Providence. These are perfect for a relaxing evening stroll โ and on a clear day, you can sit and watch the sunset ๐. ๐India Point Park Known for its panoramic views of Providence Harbor and the Seekonk River. A pedestrian bridge over Route 195 connects the park to a charming neighborhood with cute shops worth exploring. Fun fact: This was once Providenceโs first train station โ passengers from Boston arrived here before taking a boat to New York! The pilings still visible in the water are remnants of old warehouses ๐๏ธโ. ๐Michael S. Van Leesten Memorial Bridge A new Providence landmark (opened in August 2019), just a 20-minute walk away. In summer, itโs buzzing with live music, friends hanging out, and families walking around ๐ถ๐จโ๐ฉโ๐ง. The bridge adds so much charm to the city, with bars and restaurants on both sides of the river often hosting music and gatherings on summer evenings โ simple and delightful ๐น๐.
