🇺🇸 Hiking | Red Rock Canyon
Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area is located west of Las Vegas, about a 30-minute drive from the city. 🚗💨 The park features numerous hiking trails, each with its own parking area at the trailhead, allowing you to freely plan your visit based on your available time. ⏳🧭 While there’s an ancient petroglyph wall in the park, I personally feel it might be skippable. The park also allows rock climbing, but a permit is required. 🧗♂️📜 1️⃣ Visitor Center After arriving at the park, be sure to stop at the Visitor Center first! Because the scenic drive inside the park is one-way, you can’t loop back. 🛑🔄 The center provides maps, and the staff are very helpful—they’ll give you suggestions based on your interests and time. 🗺️👩💼 From here, you can also enjoy a beautiful distant view of the red rock formations and learn more about the park’s history and geology. 🌄🏞️ 2️⃣ Calico Tanks Trail This trail offers a really enjoyable experience! You’ll walk through a dry riverbed valley, and along the way, you might spot natural “tanks”—small pools that collect rainwater. 💦👣 At the end of the trail, after a short scramble up a rock section, you’ll be rewarded with a surprising and sweeping view of the Las Vegas Strip in the distance! 🏙️🤩 It’s a wonderful contrast between vibrant nature and the glittering city. What’s your favorite hike that ends with an unexpected, breathtaking view? 🥾✨ Or have you visited a park where the visitor center totally enhanced your experience?
